THE SACRED STORY OF MAA HARSIDDHI DEVI
In ancient times, when the Tandava dance of Lord Shiva began upon Sati's self-immolation, the universe trembled. To protect cosmic balance and calm Shiva, Lord Vishnu used his Sudarshana Chakra to divide Sati's physical form into 51 sacred parts.
During this division, the sacred Elbow (Karpura) of Goddess Sati descended upon the sacred banks of the Shipra River in Avantika (modern Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh). This holy spot became the legendary Harsiddhi Shakti Peeth (Shri Ujjayini Kali).
Worshipped as Maa Harsiddhi (who attained her name by destroying demons at the behest of Shiva), the Goddess was also the patron deity of the legendary King Vikramaditya. She protects seekers alongside Lord Shiva in the aspect of Bhairava Kapilambar.
During Lord Shiva's celestial Tandava of grief bearing Devi Sati, Lord Vishnu's Sudarshana Chakra divided her form across 51 sanctified Shakti Peedams.
Mother Sati's Sacred Elbow (Karpura) descended upon the banks of the sacred Shipra River in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.
Presided over by Maa Harsiddhi (Ujjayini Kali) and guarded by Lord Kapilambar Bhairav, this sacred Peeth grants victory, fearlessness, and fulfillment.
THE DIVINE CHRONICLE
1. THE SACRIFICE
Goddess Sati sacrifices her physical shell in protest of the insults directed at Shiva.

Lord Shiva wanders in deep mourning, carrying the body of Sati and performing Tandava.

Lord Vishnu divides Sati's physical shell, and her elbow (Karpura) lands in Ujjain.
