Shri Lingadharini Devi
Shakti Peedam
The Sacred Abode of
Divine Protection & Pure Devotion

THE SACRED STORY OF SHRI LINGADHARINI DEVI
Once, Goddess Sati, the daughter of Daksha Prajapati and the beloved consort of Lord Shiva, immolated herself in the sacrificial fire insulted by her father.
Overwhelmed with grief, Lord Shiva carried her lifeless body across the universe, performing the Tandava of sorrow.
To restore balance in the world, Lord Vishnu used his Sudarshana Chakra to cut the body of Sati into pieces.
It is believed that the Heart of Goddess Sati fell at Naimisharanya, Uttar Pradesh. Here, the Goddess is worshipped as Lingadharini (and widely as Maa Lalita Devi), gracing the ancient forest where thousands of sages have performed intense penance since time immemorial.
