Shri Sylhet Kali
Shakti Peedam
The Sacred Abode of
Cosmic Creation, Power & Spiritual Liberation

THE SACRED STORY OF MAA MAHAMAYA DEVI
In ancient times, when the beloved consort of Lord Shiva, Goddess Sati, sacrificed her physical form in the sacrificial fire of Daksha Prajapati, Lord Shiva was consumed by infinite grief, carrying her body and performing the Tandava of cosmic dissolution.
To protect the universe from Shiva's destructive sorrow, Lord Vishnu sent his Sudarshana Chakra to divide Sati's physical form. As her body parted, the neck (Griva) fell at the scenic gotatikar hills of Jainpur in Sylhet, Bangladesh.
This holy site became the legendary Shri Sylhet Kali (also known as Shri Shail Shakti Peeth), where the Goddess resides as Maa Mahamaya (or Jayanti) alongside Lord Shiva in the guardian aspect of Bhairava Sambaranand, blessing seekers with spiritual clarity.
